The months of summer are finally upon us. June, July, and August happen to be some of the best times of the year. The bright, sunny days are long and the nights are just as warm.
Summer can turn your normal routine of work into a drag, ending into long, exhausting work days. Something might be pulling and nudging your inner child to do the following: relax, go have some fun, lay in a hammock, or under a tree, take a dip in the pool or a splash in the crisp blue ocean. But by the time you get home, the bed or the couch is the closest you get to doing anything.
There are ways to still chill, relax and have a wonderful time this summer even if you are too tired from working. Think about the little small things you can do within your home that will bring on that summer vibe you have been waiting all year to feel.
First off you have to keep it cool. It can be super hot in the summer and that means the A/C gets cranked up. So does the electric bill! Here are some tips to keep you cool during the warm summer:
Before you leave the house in the morning be sure to keep your windows, doors, and curtains shut before the sun comes up and heats up the home. When it cools down and once you return home you may open the doors and windows to allow the cooler evening breeze to enter.
Sprucing up your home for summer can be super fun; those days where it seems too hot to play outside you will be glad you did. You can achieve your summer vibe quite effortlessly by just adding a few new items to your most common rooms.
Add a bit of color. No matter what your color scheme is in your home by adding a pop of color can really lighten and brighten up an area. Yellow is a wonderful summer color: think of the sunshine, beautiful lemons, honey bees, and flowers. Whether you choose to repaint your walls, update your cabinets, or switch up your flooring, a home improvement project could be just what your home needs this summer.
Brightening your home will make it more inviting, and you will want to invite company over when you’re done with your simple summer home transformation.
White is also a simple and yet beautiful color to add to the mix. You can add some white flowers to a group of vases. Hydrangeas are big and space filling. You can also add pops of color to your couch; big white/ivory textured pillows or a lightweight frilly throw blanket can be very welcoming to have a seat and relax.
